Dr Joanne Richardson

Joanne graduated from the University of Sydney in 1978, following in her father’s footsteps as a dentist, and then worked in her father’s Sydney practice for over 20 years. After sailing to the Whitsundays she opened a practice in Airlie Beach, enjoying the relaxed Queensland lifestyle for over ten years while raising two children.

Once the children grew up she started travelling and working, as well as running a volunteer dental outreach program in India and Nepal for the last fifteen years. Joanne has worked in Singapore, New Zealand, Christmas Island, Indonesia and Vietnam, as well as for the RFDS in Western Australia. After spending a month in January 2016 in Alice Springs she has found it a hard place to leave, and although still travelling regularly to Nepal to train community health workers in preventive dentistry, she will be working regularly in Alice Springs.

Joanne enjoys bush walking, mountaineering and sailing, and meeting new people. As an active member of Rotary and Zonta, she is passionate about helping to make the world a better place by helping those less fortunate.
